More Detailed Info
The NRS 14’ River Cataraft is in a league of its own. Quite different from the other pontoon boats we have reviewed, this one is built for extreme fun, extreme performance, agility and stability.
It is designed to be able to tackle rapids smoothly.
The pontoon tubes are constructed with the highest quality material. Consequently they are strong, resilient and UV, chemical and abrasion resistant. They can withstand a lot of abuse.
This cataraft is made for the river. Adding a frame size of your choice means you can customize it for your needs.
It can be used for solo paddling, transporting passengers, overnight camping trips or hauling gear from one end of the river to the other.
It will handle whatever you throw at it.
Tubes
The 25” tubes are precisely sized and have a continuous curve. Their design enhances maneuverability and keeps you floating high even under heavy loads.
They have extended wear patches on the tops. The tubes will allow for frames up to 11’ long.
Each tube has 3 air valves which adds a huge amount of security in an emergency situation. If you ever get a leak in one air valve, there are several more that will safely get you back to shore.
The tubes have 16 D-rings – 8 on each side. These stainless steel D-rings are used to attach your frame.
Setup and Portability
Inflating the tubes only takes a few minutes. It can easily be done with a hand pump but it is far more ideal to use an electric pump.
Attaching the frame is easy with straps and the D-rings. Once attached, the frame is completely secure and solid.
Transporting the deflating tubes is extremely convenient. They are a little heavy at 72 lbs. but they can still easily be taken anywhere.
